Seat Ateca named after the town of the same name in the Spanish province of Zaragoza. The presentation of the model took place in February 2016, this is the first crossover by Seat. The Seat 20V20 concept served as a design prototype for the production model, and from the technical side, Ateka is the closest relative Volkswagen Tiguan second generation and compact crossover Skoda Karoq. All of them are built on a modular Volkswagen MQB platform with a transverse engine.

According to the Volkswagen table of ranks, the Atek is smaller than the Tiguan, and also slightly inferior to it in terms of wheelbase. The overall length of the "Spaniard" is 4363 mm (-123 mm compared to the VW Tiguan), width - 1841 mm (-2 mm), height including roof rails - 1615 mm, the distance between the front and rear axles - 2638 mm (-45 mm ). The trunk volume of the Seat Ateca is 510 liters for front-wheel drive versions and 485 liters for all-wheel drive. In addition, the first group is equipped with a 50-liter fuel tank, while 55-liter ones are installed on the 4WD modifications. For comparison, the trunk volume of Nissan Qashqai is 439 liters, Kia Sportage is 466 liters, Hyundai Tucson is 488 liters.

The key elements of the front panel of the Seat Ateca are familiar from the Leon model, but the design of the door cards of the crossover is different. The differences are expressed in more massive handles and a different arrangement of buttons, as well as switches. Seats are fabric by default (there are several color combinations), but Alcantara is available for a fee, as well as several types of leather.

In Euro NCAP crash tests, the 2016 Seat Ateca crossover received the highest rating - Five Stars. For the protection of the driver and adult passenger, Ateca earned 93% of the possible points, for the protection of the passenger-child - 84%, for the protection of the pedestrian - 71%, the experts of the committee rated the work of safety devices at 60%.

Seat Ateca is equipped exclusively with Euro-6 turbocharged engines. The gasoline line of units is represented by a 1.0-liter TSI turbo engine with a capacity of 115 hp. and a torque of 200 Nm, a four-cylinder turbo engine 1.4 TSI (150 hp, 250 Nm), as well as 2.0 TSI (190 hp, 320 Nm). The first is combined with the "mechanics" and is found on the front-wheel drive Ateca, the second, depending on the configuration, can be paired with a manual transmission, as well as with six- and seven-speed DSG boxes, with front or all-wheel drive. The two-liter turbo engine is combined with a 7-speed DSG and an all-wheel drive system.

The crossover with the initial engine accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 11 seconds (maximum speed 183 km / h) and consumes 5.2 liters of gasoline per 100 km of run in the combined cycle.

Also, four-cylinder 2.0 TDI turbodiesels are available for the Seat Ateka in two versions: 150-horsepower (340 Nm) is paired with “mechanics”, and 190-horsepower (400 Nm) is combined with a 7-speed “robot”. The less powerful car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.0 seconds (maximum speed 196 km/h) and consumes 5.1 liters of diesel fuel per 100 km of run in the combined cycle. A more productive one accelerates to the first “hundred” in 7.5 seconds (maximum speed is 212 km / h) and burns an average of 5.3 liters of fuel per 100 km. Both modifications are all-wheel drive.

The Seat Ateca is available in Reference, Style and Xcellence trim levels. The basic equipment includes:

Various materials (fabric, alcantara, leather) and color schemes for interior trim are offered, a background interior lighting system, alloy wheels from 17 to 19 inches, and wireless smartphone charging. In addition, an automatic trunk opening system, a chrome package, full LED lighting, a panoramic sunroof, park pilot, a set of security systems and driving assistance, as well as other options are available.

Seat Ateca came out to the Ukrainian market in March 2017. The crossover is produced in the Czech Republic at the Skoda Auto plant in the city of Kvasiny.
